WHAT IS FANTASY FEST?
Key West has parades, street parties, and thousands of adult revelers in zany costumes at Fantasy Fest. It happens for one week in October. This year’s event is October 21 through 30, 2011.

COSTUME VARIETY
While full nudity is not permitted, many scantily-clad party goers wear outrageous, brightly-colored costumes, or simply opt for strategically drawn body paint and glitter in lieu of shirts and bikini tops.
PRETENDERS IN PARADISE COSTUME PARTY
There are parades and costume contest each evening, the largest being the “Pretenders in Paradise” Costume Party hosted by the Pier House Resort and Caribbean Spa. Major event sponsors include Captain Morgan Rum and the Florida Keys Tourism Association.Sailing yacht SURPRISE is a 48′ catamaran with accommodations for 2 couples. HURRICANE IRMA HITS THE CARIBBEAN

GOVERNMENT AMENDMENT
The British Virgin Islands (BVIs) government amended its custom regulations in December 2019. They now offer duty free fuel to yachts.
Jana Sheeder, President of 1-800 Yacht Charters, explains:
“As long as your luxury charter yacht remains in the BVI for a minimum three days, your crew can take advantage of these cost savings. Depending upon the size of the superyacht you charter, the savings can be significant.”
PREMIER OF THE BVI COMMENTS
Andrew Fahie, the Premier of the BVI also commented on the new rule: “This will be a step in the right direction towards encouraging megayachts to make the BVI their home port,” says Andrew Fahie, the premier of the BVIs.
Other areas of the Caribbean, for instance, St Martin and St Barts, draw more megayacht visits. The BVIs seem prepared to give the other islands a run for their money.
Multiple marinas for deep-draft superyachts, especially sailing yachts, now exist.
The BVI has year-round warm temperatures and as a general rule. Not only that, but calmer waters occur here than in other areas of the Caribbean.
Flight times from the USA to the British Virgin Islands are shorter. Not only is there an international airport in Tortola suitable for both commercial and private jets. but there is also regular ferry service between the BVI and the nearby U.S. Virgin Islands.

RESTORATION PROJECTS
This is Verkerk’s second superyacht restoration project. His other is highly popular 228 foot motor yacht SHERAKHAN. She is a star in the Mediterranean charter market.
