Sardinia Luxury Tax on Mediterranean Yacht Charter Vessels Abolished

Posted by admin
Whether as an effort to diversify investments, ego or challenge – many international celebrities have spent millions of dollars for the opportunity to own a superyacht. Unlike athletes who splash their names on a restaurant and cover the walls in memorabilia as a shrine to their athletic glory, celebrity yacht owners rarely view their vessels as a tool for self-promotion. Instead, these yachts serve as a private oasis, a retreat from the constant pressures of the high-profile world of business and entertainment.
When not in use by their owners or families, many of these yachts are available for hire as luxury mega yacht charter vessels.
“We just spent a week on P. Diddy’s private yacht!“
Motor yacht VaJoLiRoJa — the boat’s clever name comes from combining the first few letters of each family member’s name, partner Vanessa Paradis, Johnny, and their kids, Lily-Rose and Jack — is a 156′ Mediterranean yacht charter vessel of distinctive character, inspired by the classic gentleman’s yachts of the 1930’s.
The lavishly-styled interior evokes the romance and glamour of a bygone era (with a few pirate-themed hints throughout). Available for hire in the Mediterranean for € 98,000 per week in July and August, and € 84,000 per week the other months.
According to the story, legendary rock star Eric Clapton (“Layla,” “Tears in Heaven,” “Cocaine“) chartered motor yacht Va Bene in 2005 and loved the yacht so much, he purchased it from then owner, F1 motor racing CEO Bernie Ecclestone. The 157 ft (47.8m) yacht can accommodate 12 guests in six separate sleeping cabins and has a crew complement of 13 when under charter.
The yacht’s interior is best described as calm and informal, with neutral tones in the décor and an Art Deco theme running through the main guest areas. Clapton, a collector of modern art, has filled the yacht with paintings, sculptures, and ceramic vases.
Motor Yacht Va Bene is available for Caribbean yacht charter hire in the winter and spring at a rate of $189,000 per week. In the summer, the yacht is based in the Mediterranean and is priced at $210,000 per week in July and August, and $189,000 per week all other months.
3. SEVEN SEAS
After her launch in 2010, speculation swirled around Steven Spielberg’s motor yacht SEVEN SEAS as to whether or not she would enter the charter market. At first – she did. Recently, however, Spielberg withdrew the yacht from charter for extended personal use. Hopeful that the superyacht will one day return to charter, we have selected her for our list of the best celebrity-owned (charter) yachts.
At 86 meters in length, her size, shape, and style ensure that motor yacht Seven Seas is one of the most impressive yachts in the world. Built by Oceanco, the megayacht features an infinity swimming pool on her aft deck which can conveniently be transformed into a full helipad or used as a screen for viewing movies while on deck or in the pool. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we will soon see the return of Seven Seas to the rental marketplace!

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis
Should we believe the reports? If so, there’s trouble in Paradis for Captain Jack Sparrow.
People Magazine reports Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp is in hot water. He and his love of 14 years, singer Vanessa Paradis, are calling it quits. According to People, Depp, 48, and the Chanel model, 39, have not been in public together for more than a year.
To the movie-going public, Depp is a star. He is best known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. The pirate is the central protagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. In the yachting industry, the actor is more familiar. For instance, he is the celebrity owner of a charteryacht often cruising the Bahamas.
This week’s office water-cooler question: will the split lead Depp to rename his Bahama yacht charters motor yacht, VaJoLiRoJa?
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradise on yacht VaJoLiRoJa
The boat’s clever name comes from combining the first few letters of each family member’s name, partner Vanessa Paradis, Johnny, and their kids, Lily-Rose and Jack.
If Johnny drops Vanessa, can we assume the multi-syllabic boat name will shed its current first syllable – leaving us with JoLiRoJa? We kind of like that – if you say it fast enough it sounds like, “Jolly Roger” — a perfect name for this 156 foot yacht of distinctive character.
But wait, what if it’s Vanessa forcing Johnny to, “Walk the plank?” If she keeps custody of the yacht, the new name could be VaJoLiRoJa. Has a nice sound to it – kinda rolls off the tongue…
Perhaps the best name for the yacht is RANSOM, as in Depp’s reported $300 gross profit sharing booty from Disney’s Pirates movie franchise.

Johnny Depp, yacht owner
A well known owner of a Mediterranean yacht charter vessel charges nearly €100,000 per week. In specific, to rent his yacht. His day job brings him vast sums of money, however.
Actor Johnny Depp is the owner of the 156′ motor yacht VAJOLIROJA. Depp opens up about his staggering paychecks. In specific, in the November issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
“Basically, if they’re going to pay me the stupid money right now, I’m going to take it,” he admits in the magazine article. “I have to. I mean, it’s not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.”
Depp shot to the top of the list of Hollywood’s highest paid actors. This is thanks to the stellar success of Disney‘s Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. Depp is mum on the size of his Pirates “ransom.” A recent report puts his total take in the $300 million range. This is due to a gross-profit-sharing deal brokered with Disney. To date, the four-film franchise has tallied $3.7 billion in worldwide receipts. Depp to star in a 5th installment.
Johnny Depp yacht, ValJoLiRoJa
It’s believed Depp’s passion for the sea, and his purchase of a mega yacht charter vessel stems from his years of filming the Pirates movies in exotic locales such as the Bahamas. His yacht, motor yacht VaJoLiRoJa — the boat’s clever name comes from combining the first few letters of each family member’s name, partner Vanessa Paradis, Johnny, and their kids, Lily-Rose and Jack — is a 156 foot yacht of distinctive character, inspired by the classic gentleman’s yachts of the 1930’s.
The lavishly-styled interior evokes the romance and glamour of a bygone era (with a few pirate-themed hints throughout).
Relive the Golden Era of yachting on board a classic yacht this winter. Depp’s yacht VAJOLIROJA is available for hire in the Bahamas or St Martin. It joins another classic-style Caribbean charter yacht, sail yacht GERMANIA NOVA.
In other destinations, classic-styled sail yacht MONTIGNE is available in the Far East, and in the Mediterranean, sail yacht ATLANTIC and motor yacht CHRISTINA O are available this winter.
