Dubois Designs
Following discussions at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show, the fabled team at Dubois Designs has entered a contract with an existing client for the construction of a 100m sloop.
“We are pleased to announce the design contract for a 100m sloop,” says Ed Dubois.
“This will demand a 30 month design programme with construction expected to commence mid 2013 with completion 2016. Further information will be available late 2012.”
She is expected to exist as one the most spectacular private yachts. Her main mast will tower 125 meters above the water. The yacht is designed as an explorer vessel. Much of her volume is dedicated to storage (stowage) space for tenders and equipment. This sailboat holds a maximum draft of 12.8m. She has accommodations for 20 crew in single cabins. There is a unique hard top over the flybridge.
No shipyard has yet to be chosen for the construction, but Josep Juanpere Miret in onboard as the interior designer.
Ed Dubois was recently in the news for establishing a cancer fund for children. Yachts designed by Dubois and his team have swept numerous superyacht awards in the past year.
For a luxurious winter vacation on the water, charter a Dubois-designed yacht such as sail yacht KOKOMO or sail yacht TWIZZLE. Contact the 1-800 Yacht Charters desk at https://1800yachtcharters.com/book-now-contact-us/ for further details.

The Charter Yacht Brokers Association is CYBA. They announce 2017 winners of their campaign. This is the annual “Going Green To Save The Blue” cause. The crew onboard superyacht NERO places in the “Designer Water” contest. The contest recognizes crews of luxury yacht charter vessels. This award goes to crews acknowledging their “yacht-made” water. This is an effort to reduce. Disposable plastic water bottle use on yachts must decrease.
Jana Sheeder, President of 1-800 Yacht Charters and a CYBA member, explains the program. The underlying message is unquestionably urgent.
“Importantly, the campaign is designed to encourage yacht owners and crews to reduce, and eventually forego, the use of plastic water bottles by both the crews and the onboard luxury yacht charter guests. The goal is to raise awareness as to the massive volume of water bottles that are consumed during charters, and the impact disposable plastic has in our landfills and more importantly, our oceans.”
The “Designer Water” contest is annual. It occurs at the opening of the Caribbean yacht charter winter/spring season. At this time, the season sees more than a dozen private yacht charter vessels. In addition, crews showcase their “flavored” waters. Specifically, the waters generate from onboard watermakers that convert seawater into clean, safe drinking water.
This year’s winners are first, 111 foot sailing yacht REE for Hibiscus Martini Water. Second, 183 foot sailing yacht ROSEHEARTY wins for Moranga-infused Detoxifying Water. Third, 265 foot mega yacht NERO wins for Coriander and Passionfruit Water.
It should be noted that the CYBA campaign, “Going Green To Save The Blue,” strategizes dually . It encourages yacht owners and crews to offer eco-friendly options. Private yacht charter guests participate in this sustainable initiative. Hopefully, the guests return home with a clearer understanding of the impact of plastic pollution. In addition, how they can incorporate simple changes in their daily lives. They can make a difference in safeguarding our environment for future generations.
“The ‘Going Green’ campaign highlights the numerous opportunities and options available to our private yacht charter clients, yacht owners, and crews – from avoiding plastic water bottles, to using green cleaning products, reef-friendly sunscreens, and solar panels for energy,” says Sheeder. “We congratulate motor yacht NERO and her owner and crew and all of the other Caribbean yacht charter teams for their commitment to the long-term health of our oceans and the marine environment.”
In conclusion, turn to 1-800 Yacht Charters for yacht rentals. We are the company with the industry-leading Best Price Guarantee. When it comes to a keen sense for talent, creativity and style, few can argue with Simon Cowell’s success. The television and music industry mogul has helped launch the careers of dozens of entertainers, while his brutal honesty has made him a household name in America.
Amazingly, his sense of style and panache extends far beyond the entertainment industry, into the realm of the world’s newest and largest luxury yachts, as witnessed by Cowell’s own show-winning vessel, motor yacht SLIPSTREAM.
We first introduced you to American Idol Simon Cowell motor yacht SLIPSTREAM at the 2009 Genoa yacht show. Built by France’s CMN Shipyard, their largest yacht to date, Simon Cowell’s yacht SLIPSTREAM is one of the chicest crafts on the water.
Cowell’s yacht décor is a super-stylish mélange of modern and nautical, taking full advantage of the yacht’s panoramic windows. The vessel’s interiors are finished in a neo-Art Deco style combining dark ebony joinery and red leather paneling. The sun-deck is fitted with a spa, sun-pads, bar with BBQ, and al fresco dining area, and the yacht comes equipped with a cutting-edge home entertainment system including video on demand and a satellite communications center.
Like her owner, most often seen wearing a crisp, black T-shirt, the yacht presents a dramatic appearance with her gleaming black hull.
With room to accommodate up to 14 Guests, and 200 square meters of outdoor decks, expect to see this vessel hosting fellow entertainers and celebrities at events like the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2011 and the Monaco Grand Prix.
Cowell has a U.K.-based production company, SYCO. They produce BAFTA Award-winning show, The X Factor. Specifically, it has topped the charts in England. He also produces and judges Britain’s Got Talent. Of course, here in the states he is best known for starring in American Idol for 9 seasons, and for serving as executive-producer of America’s Got Talent.
What a strange twist. The man who professionally judges style and talent had an experience. He saw his beloved superyacht placed before a jury of judges. In October 2010, Cowell’s yacht won the prestigious ShowBoats Design Award for Best Exterior Design & Styling.
Prices onboard Simon Cowell’s yacht SLIPSTREAM begin at 315,000 Euros per week.

Each week or so, we take a look at one or two of the finalists for the 2011 World Superyacht Awards. Many of the newest and largest yachts available for crewed yacht charter have been nominated.
BATON ROUGE is a nominee for Best Displacement Motor Yacht in the 60 to 84-meter range “yacht.”
This six-deck yacht boasts more volume than most other 63-meter luxury yacht charter vessels currently on the water. Motor yacht BATON ROUGE was built by Icon Yachts, and features the exterior styling of Tim Heywood, with interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon.
Fully-stabilized and optimized in every respect for luxury living afloat, her extensive interior guest areas include multiple lounges and a choice of dining options, which cohesively encompass both townhouse elegance and beach house chic to suit one’s mood.

The exterior deck areas are nothing short of expansive, and they serve as great outdoor spaces for lounging and dining. There’s an ondeck hot tub on Baton Rouge, and a dedicated sundeck which converts to a party deck, as well as a beach club lounge at sea level.
State-of-the-art entertainment and communications systems exist throughout the yacht. For physical fitness buffs, there is a gym and a very comprehensive inventory of water toys and tenders.

While affordable catamaran sailing yachts under 50 feet still dominate the charter industry, advances in shipbuilding technology have lead to a dramatic increase of ultra-luxury catamarans larger than 60 feet in length. Indeed, yachts like the 62′ catamaran IN THE WIND, and the Fountaine Pajot Galathea 65 model catamaran WORLD’S END have helped redefine multihull luxury and comfort.
Yet with so much emphasis placed on the size and amenities of the newest and largest yachts, it’s easy to overlook a key component to successful crewed catamaran charters – the crew!
Without the talents of an experienced skipper and a well-trained chef, a catamaran vacation, no matter how new and large the boat, would be nothing more than a predictable, ho-hum affair.
In an appreciative nod to the talents of these fine crews, we shine a spotlight today on Caro Uy, the culinary lioness aboard sail catamaran MUSE.
Caro grew up in a family where the pleasures of the table were a habit. She has more than ten years of experience in the catering and gastronomic food industry. Originally a graphic designer, Caro now prefers to express her creative energy in the preparation of meals with seasonally fresh products.
Caro’s true gift is the ability to adapt her menus to suit any special dietary requirements of her onboard guests.
While her cooking is based on classic techniques, the variations of flavors are a reflection of her travels throughout the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iran) ) as well as Mexico and Southeast Asia (Thailand and Vietnam).
Having grown up along Australia’s coast, Caro has always loved the sea and the romance of sailing. She is also intrigued by what lies below the sea’s surface and is a PADI Open Water Dive Instructor, as well as a TDI Extended Range Diver. Her ocean adventures have taken her to diverse ports of call such as the Canary Islands, Costa Brava, and the British Virgin Islands.
Her recent industry recognition includes top culinary honors at the November 2010 British Virgin Islands Boat Show where she won:
– 1st prize – Entrée Division
– 1st prize – Dessert Division
– 2nd prize – Salad/Appetizer Division
– 2nd prize – Coffee course
Congratulations, Caro! Your talents and passion are at the very heart of the joys of a memorable yachting vacation.
Come spend a week with Caro aboard MUSE this winter in the Caribbean. Rates begin at $37,000 per week for 10 passengers. Contact the SailAway and 1-800 Yacht Charters team today, to reserve your favorite travel dates.
HURRY! Holiday vacation dates fill up quickly – don’t miss out on your Caribbean yacht charter vacation this year!
