JANA – Feadship motoryacht
After this weekend’s 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Feadship motor yacht JANA will hoist her anchor and reposition for the winter season in the Maldives.
Expected to arrive in mid December, the classic 46-meter Feadship yacht charter vessel is currently available for a Christmas reservation.
Motoryacht JANA will remain in the Maldives through mid April and joins a growing list of yachts for hire in this Indian Ocean paradise.
There are other megayachts committed to the winter season in the Maldives. For instance,l the 64 meter Benetti motoryacht SILVER ANGEL and sail yacht PERLA DEL MARE. Additionally, the 60 meter motor yacht ARKLEY and the 150 foot motoryacht MOECCA.
Serving as a privately-chartered spectator yacht at this year’s Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi, Feadship yacht JANA will complete one more charter in Abu Dhabi in November before embarking for the Indian Ocean.
The prospect of offering alternative destinations for winter charters is exciting for JANA Sheeder, President of 1-800 Yacht Charters. “Our team is committed to expanding the destination options available to our clients,” says Sheeder. “A winter holiday in the warm waters of the Maldives is an excellent alternative to the traditional Caribbean yacht charter vacation.”
The Maldives offer visitors the chance to enjoy crystal clear water and sugar white, sandy beaches. The Republic of Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean. It is an island nation. In specific, formed by a double-wrapped chain of twenty-six (26) atolls. The winter water temperature is amazingly warm. Specifically, about 31 degrees celsius (87 degrees fahrenheit). Opportunities for snorkeling and watersports are endless. There are hundreds of reefs. In addition, many in the shallow waters of enclosed lagoons.

Lurssen Yacht ACE
For years, the name Lürssen has been synonymous with some of the most luxurious, and certainly the largest yachts available for charter. Mammoth-sized vessels such as the 70-meter motor yacht MARTHA ANN and the 60-meter motor yacht HUNTRESS (x-SOLEMATES) are testaments to the 130 yr old German shipbuilder’s dedication to craftsmanship and timeless elegance.
The latest launch by the acclaimed builder is no exception. Lurssen motor yacht ACE has the distinction of being the first superyacht to splash down in 2012. She measures 87 meters and left the company’s shipyard in Rendsburg on January 9th. The superyacht by Andrew Winch Design is magnificent. Her exterior is both unique and instantly recognizable.

Superyacht in Amalfi
A new Italian yacht tax will assess a fee for each day a yacht is in service in Italian waters.
Signed into law on December 22, 2011, the new tax will go into effect on May 1, 2012.
The new tax as outlined in the decree is as follows:
The new law lists several exceptions.
First, vessels in dry dock or hauled out of the water – exempt from the daily fee
Second, for vessels older than 5, 10 or 15 years, the tax reduces by 15%, 30% and 45%, respectively
Third, all fees for sailing yachts – reduced by 50%
Superyacht ARKLEY
Thus, if you reserve the 60 meter Lursen yacht charter motor yacht ARKLEY for a week, you will incur a fee of € 3,647. Conversely, if you select a sail yacht for your holiday, such as 57 meter Royal Huisman’s sailing yacht TWIZZLE, you’ll pay € 1,824.
Yacht charter maven Jana Sheeder believes a review of the new law is needed before it goes into effect.
“We fully support the efforts of the Italian government to bolster their sagging economy,” says Sheeder. “What we have not seen, however, is a detailed analysis of the economic impact that the new tax will have on the Mediterranean yacht charter industry, and the impact on ancillary industries which support yachting such as marinas, fuel brokers, repair specialists, provisioning companies, and travel and tourism offices.”

Lurssen yacht charter boat ICE
According to local reports in Mexico, the crew of the 90 meter Lürssen motor yacht, ICE, assisted in a rescue operation off the coast of Cozumel in mid-February.Apparently a local dive boat was enroute with divers on board to a dive site in Playa Del Carmen known for attracting bull sharks. After taking on water in rough seas, the vessel sank, leaving all hands in the water, adrift for approximately 4 hours.
